Aittala is the solo spawn of Eric Aittala.
Eric is a guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist living in the South Eastern US.
He grew up heavily influenced and inspired by the early metal and hard rock pioneers; Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Dio, etc...you get the point.
Eric's early song writing was basically a reformulation of those early inspriations; trying to sound like his heros. But as he matured, so did his music. By 1991, he had built the basic foundation of the Aittala sound.
The only live version of Aittala was formed in 1992 while Eric was in Holland. With fellow American Tim Mannon on vocals, Dutch drummer Ed Vereijken and Dutch bassist (affectionately known as) Welfare Jon, a version of the band was formed that could bring to life those early works.
This version of Aittala played numerous shows around the Dutch metal scene. With the release of the 3-song demo 'Selling Heaven', in summer of 1993, Aittala played shows supporting 'Selling Heaven' opening for such bands as 'The Gathering' and 'Sadist'. But as the band and the demo started to create a buzz in the underground Dutch metal scene, Eric's departure from the country broke up the band.
Over the next few years, Eric evolved the Aittala sound from the early, rudimentary foundation to a structure that became more intricate, layered and massive to create the definitive Aittala sound. It crosses many metal genres and its hard to put the music of Aittala into just one category.
The lyrics draw inspiration from darker side of human nature. Tapping into the side of humanity that most people deny they fantasize about. The lyrics are laden with themes of desire, lust, eroticism, bondage, betrayal and deceit.
