Horroble
New York, NY, USA |
“Horroble” Began as a Side project of
Luci aka Jesus Christ! from the Black
Metal band “Ancient”.
With ideas for a band that has only
one guide line “Anything Horror“ Luci,
with a lack of members, and residing
in a “Haunted Church” far away from
his mates in “Ancient”, recorded a 3
song demo “Self Titled”
?
Demo Review on Sleazegrinder.com-
Jesus (no, not that one, although I
have no proof one way or the other),
former-and-future head honcho in
black metal titans Ancient and creepy
carnival muzak freaks Fullmoon
Sideshow, adds “The Horroble” to his
messianic namesake and resurrects
once again as heavy, doomy, thunder-
rock band. THJ hisself claims all sortsa
bitchin’ inspirations for this project-
Diamond Head, Venom, Sabbath- and
goddamn if he doesn’t nail that very
sound, a thick, faraway slab of epic
gloom rock that brings to mind a
panicky Nik Fiend fronting an acid-
fried NWOBHM band. I mighta just lost
you there, but just think “Sabotage”, or
maybe Witchfinder General (or mebbe
Witchfynde, for that matter) and yer
hot on the Horroble trail. A trio of
songs here, all of ‘em 5+ minutes
long, fulla sludgey riffs and bad
astronaut vox, and about a million
times cooler then yr average ‘stoner
rock’ band. I mean, this stuff won’t
just take ya on a sinister headphone
trip, it’ll drag ya right out into the
woods and crucify you on the trunk of
the nearest gnarled elm tree. Maybe
it’s just appealing to my half-evil side,
but this is a rather astonishing display
of Satan rock. Something wicked this
way comes, indeed.
After the positive response from his
friends and peers Luci decided it
would be cool to Make a full length
album and form a complete band that
would be a mix of NWOBHM, Classic
Satanic Rock, Sleaze Punk and some
kind of Gothic.
Early 2006 Luci met up with bassist
Bobby who had played in a number of
bands in and around New Jersey ,
Bobby Like Lemmy from Motorhead,
has a raw and totally heavy
thunderous bass tone that fit perfectly
with Horroble’s vibe, together they
worked with a drummer named
Ronnie whose heavy bass drums were
heard only playing at one show at
Legendary punk venue CBGB’s in NYC.,
video footage coming soon.
In 2006 Horroble went into the studio
with drummer and owner of “Technical
Ecstasy” in New Bruswick, NJ - Chris
“Gobo” Pierce who is well known from
the NJ scene from the legendary punk
band “Doc Hopper” and the newly
acquired “Bobby” on bass and
recorded a 10 track full length studio
album entitled “Death of Ghost”, The
album was recorded in about 30 hours
, then mastered by famous Mastering
Engineer Chris Athens at Sterling
Sound NYC
The album is out now on CarnyGoat
Records. |
