Brutal Bands :: LaTUMBAGA
La TUMBAGA, Term used by native pre-columbine cultures to define an ancient handcraft technique, involving Gold and Cupper, which Spaniards invaders confused with real gold, and natives took it as a protector of their important treasures.
On Autumn of 1999, three musicians looking for a project that allow them to fusion their musical tastes and styles into a sound band, decide to adopt that name and give live to their dreams and objectives. Then they decide to temporarily address in Hartford, Connecticut (USA). Where all begins, recording a Preproduction at “Meriden Rehearsal Place”, which counts with 5 tracks of challenging material, it becomes their first material called “S.U.R”, extracting two tracks, being distributed as promotional merch to the most important underground media of Spain and South America. On early 2000, the band returns to Colombia, where release “S.U.R” on a national tour, becoming a national-wide success, its single SUR took rapidly the first numbers on specialized media, as University radios and underground rock shows, not to mention the first place in local artist for MP3.com International Festivals as “Festival de la niebla 2000-2002”, confirmed the great level accomplished by the band, opening important opportunities as the signing with Universal Music Colombia, for “SE BUSCA” compilation of local bands, and making a huge show on the HARD ROCK CAFÉ (Bogotá). After some adjusts on the line-up, La TUMBAGA, is now working on their first album release, which is going to out on record stores on April 2006. La TUMBAGA, is a power-trio and its music involves elements of hardcore and Latin music, where its style is rooted. Its music accompanied with positive ideology gave life to “Hardcore Power Latino”
