Brutal Bands :: Raggedy Soul
Raggedy Soul got together 2 and a half years ago when Jamie and Mark Conroy (THE Raggedy Soul) got together and formed a writing duo, they very quickly got writing and entered a local battle of the bands which they won and got the oppourtunity to support the legendary 'Undertones'. After this achievement they sought out a drummer and bass player, first came Pete the drummer who had recently returned from America where he was living in san Francisco playing with numerous bands in the Mission District, he was found through a barman in the Bray area who both Jamie and Pete knew although they didnt know each other at the time, Pubs uniting musicians!! Petes long life friend Mark Moroney was in no uncertain terms the only bass player Pete was prepared to play with,listen to how tight this combo is and you'll see why. Mark was in 2 or 3 other bands at the time and was due to join a band Pete used to play with, he was also very hard to get hold of, but as soon as Mark heard the first 3 songs from Jamie, Mark and Pete he quit all other bands and joined Raggedy Soul. After a year writing and a short stint in studio Raggedy Soul entered the Global battle of the Bands 2004 which they won in Ireland and came 6th in the finals in the London Astoria. During this time they played throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland playing support to Eric Bell ex guitarist from Thin Lizzy and headlining many more. During spring 2005 Raggedy Soul fell upon a musician who it was felt would add an extra demension to their over all sound cue Tiernan on keys. Since Tiernans inclusion Raggedy Souls sound has taken on a life all of its own with each member of the band contributing to the writing process, its truly a great sound, rock music that has a dance feel to it, it seems that their sound transcends any genre, age group or social standing; music for music lovers! |
