Having eluded the blackhole of a suburbian hell called "The Woodlands", two Austin transplants masterminded the creation of "The Dead Lotus Society" in 2008. Hyatt and Dmitri were joined shortly after by their drummer-to-be, Bahman, to form their growing three piece beast of sound. With goals to bring people out of their comfort zones,much like a Chuck Pahlanuik novel, with a mix of Hyatt's surprisingly non-femme beastial sounds, eye-ripping beats and screaming guitar riffs, The Dead Lotus Society takes everyone by surprise. Bahman would go on to work on his career outside of music and the band has since happily picked up Mr. Charlie Manson on drums. It's not to say this band is not without trying new things or expanding their limits. Songs such a "Girl Unknown" feature solely clean female vocals coupled with more of radio friendly sound, while "Pathways" focuses on transcending ambiance. Regardless, the band yearns to pull open the eyes of the world and see the strength we can find in analyzing and embracing our trials and tribulations. Scheduled to play at local Hot Topics around the Texas area and then expand to an East Coast tour, you can expect to hear the mantra of these Lotus Eaters spread like a plague.
