Brutal Bands :: Timmy O'Tool
Timmy O'Tool is an Argentinean band from the Federal Capital, that was born in 1996. Their style combines different elements from rap, hip hop funk, metal, hop, funk, metal, etc, with great influence from bands such as Rage Against the machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The band's members are Larva (lead vocals), Rana (drums), Taz (bass) and Mono (guitar). Timmy O´Tool played from their early beginnings at various venues of Buenos Aires, and they released their first demo in late 1997.
The year 1998 was, without question, a very successful year for the band, because they performed at the important festival Buenos Aires No Duerme organized by the Argentinean capital government, where more than 5,000 people attended: A month later, the band had their first TV appearance, on the famous channel Much Music right after they won the "Best band of the month" contest, on the national rock TV show, "Rock al Frente The lyrics are composed by Larva, the lead singer, they are about very diverse subjects, such as: social problems, youth issues, like conflicts or having fun. Live the band has a strong and powerful show, based on a sound that goes from the rawest funk, to the most furious power. In 1999 the band recorded a their version of the song No Existes that is included in the bizarre tribute to the Argentinean band Soda Stereo titled "Gracias Totales" and is also in the compilation record released by Efecto Uno y Cover your bones, two very important skate-surf wear brands. This same year, on July the band appeared once again on Much Music, at the TV show "El Aguante", having a really energetic live performance, honored by being the first underground band broadcasted on internet to the whole world through their own web site. On April, 2000, the band released their first album "No soy yo" under the label Dulce Limón Records, which was the same label of the Soda Stereo tribute The album has 11 tracks, among them an explosive rendition of Satisfaction. On May, the band met Martha Luz Cadena, (a rock band manager in Mexico, Venus Management) through the Internet, and they start working together and planning the future for the band, finally on September, 2000 Timmy O'Tool arrives to Mexico City, to perform on more than 10 gigs, including the famous annual school campuses concerts tour "Pa que t'eduques" . They shared the stage with some of the most important Mexican groups like El Tri and Resorte . Timmy O'Tool also took part on one of the most important rock events in Latin America: ROCK AL PARQUE 2000, in Colombia, where they performed twice on different stages, on October 14 they played at La Media Torta, in front of 15,000 people, and on October 15 at the Parque Simon Bolivar, for a much bigger audience, more than 70,000 people. The band is awarded as the Revelation band of the Festival. Because of this they recorded a special TV program for the Colombian channel Mucha Musica. Timmy O'Tool, can now be heard constantly on the most important radio station in Mexico City (Orbita 105.7 FM ) and in Colombia (Radio Activa) with their first single "Queriendo" . Timmy O' Tool is signed by a brand new record label in Mexico, SUPERNOVA, and will start by distributing its records simultaneously in Mexico, United States and Puerto Rico (DLN Distribution) and Colombia. The year 2001 has also had a strong start for the band, they have been included on the Top Ten rock groups in Buenos Aires, chosen by an annual poll published by El Clarín, which is one of the most important newspapers in Argentina. On March 9 they will be the opening act for the band Biohazard in Buenos Aires , Argentina. On May they will return to Mexico to tour some of the major cities of this country, then they will visit the United States for the first time, and they will also return to Colombia, to perform is various cities as well.
